Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started?
Visit the Fees & Scheduling page to review session rates and availability or request an appointment. You’re also welcome to call or email me with questions before deciding whether counseling is right for you.
Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes! I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation to briefly connect, answer questions, and explore whether working together might be a good fit.
To arrange a consultation, call (636) 204-2005.
Do you offer in-person and online appointments?
Yes! I offer in-person counseling in Richmond Heights, Missouri, and telehealth appointments.
For virtual sessions, you must be physically located in Missouri and in a safe, private setting where you can speak comfortably and confidentially. If joining from a vehicle, it must remain safely parked throughout the session. Sessions cannot take place while driving.
What are your session fees?
Individual Counseling: $175 / 50 minutes
Couples Counseling: $200 / 80 minutes
Fees are reviewed quarterly and may be adjusted. Any applicable changes will be communicated in advance.
Do you accept insurance?
My practice is self-pay. You may contact your insurance provider to ask about potential out-of-network reimbursement benefits. Reimbursement varies by plan and is not guaranteed.
What payment methods do you accept?
Major credit, debit cards, FSA and HSA are accepted.
Where is your office located?
My practice is located in Richmond Heights, Missouri. The specific office address and arrival information will be provided through the appointment process.
What if I need an appointment outside your regular hours?
You’re welcome to email me about alternative appointment times. I’ll do my best to accommodate requests when possible, although availability cannot be guaranteed.
Will I need to complete paperwork before my first appointment?
Yes. Required intake documents and questionnaires will be provided through a secure client portal.
Please complete all requested paperwork before your first appointment so we can spend more of our time together focusing on you.
What should I expect during my first session?
Our first session is an opportunity to get acquainted, discuss what brings you to counseling, and begin exploring what you’d like to gain from the experience.
You don’t need to arrive with everything figured out or feel pressured to share your entire story at once. We’ll start where you are.
What is your cancellation policy?
I understand that life happens and plans sometimes change!
I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice when canceling or rescheduling an appointment.
Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than 48 hours’ notice, as well as missed appointments, may be subject to a fee equal to 50% of the scheduled session rate.
Unexpected emergencies and exceptional circumstances will be considered individually.
The complete policy will be provided in your intake documents before services begin.
Will Milo be present during my appointments?
Yes! Milo is my trained service dog and accompanies me to every session, including virtual appointments.
He’s incredibly sweet, loves making people happy, and genuinely enjoys his work. When he’s working, though, his attention needs to remain on his job.
I kindly ask that you avoid engaging him through eye contact, talking to him, or petting him during sessions. If you’d like to briefly say hello, you’re welcome to ask! When appropriate, I’ll give Milo his “say hi” cue so he knows he’s allowed to interact.
And please don’t feel bad about ignoring him! He loves having a purpose, and just like us, interruptions can disrupt his focus. Allowing him to work without distraction is one of the best ways to support him.
Milo is my service dog, not a therapy dog for clients. If you have allergies, concerns, or questions about his presence, please let me know before your appointment so we can discuss your needs.
Do I have to be a client to subscribe to free website content?
Not at all!
This website was created as a place to explore, learn, reflect, and discover helpful resources, whether or not you choose to pursue counseling.
When available, the complimentary subscription will provide access to additional educational articles, activities, reflection tools, and other website content.
You’re welcome to participate, return, or simply explore at your own pace. A website subscription does not establish a therapeutic relationship.
Free subscription features are coming soon.
What if I need immediate mental health support?
My practice is not an emergency or crisis-response service.
If you’re experiencing an immediate emergency, call 911 or visit your nearest emergency department.
For immediate mental health crisis support, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
